Joseph Maggi's proud tradition began with his grandmother and grandfather who got the family started in food service in Milan , Italy around the turn of the century. Their restaurant served Northern Italian dishes and fresh fish from in and around the region.

Joseph's Maggi's parents continued that tradition with Maggi's Restaurant in Wallingford , Connecticut for over 25 years. They retired in 1979 and moved to Florida following Joseph who moved to Florida in 1976 to escape the North's cold winter snow. Four years later Mr. Maggi opened "The Fish Grill" developing and upholding the family tradition and reputation of fine dining. "The Fish Grill" was an instant local and visitor favorite, using strictly fresh fish and seafood. It earned him much recognition throughout the area and the community and a loyal following of Florida residents. The Fish Grill was sold to real estate developers in 2001 prior to starting Joseph's On The Water.

Joseph's On The Water continues to be owned and operated in the family tradition. All fish and seafood is inspected personally by Mr. Maggi upon arriving at the restaurant.
